Our Story

Forte Urban Forestry is a consulting firm founded in 2020 by Matthew Tutsch, RPF, RPP. A former principal at ENKON Environmental, Matthew is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) and Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with a Masters in forest ecology from the School of Resource Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University. Matthew has been working with developers in the Lower Mainland since 2010 and has 20 years experience in the environmental industry.

In the last 10 years, Matthew has worked on hundreds of development sites ranging from large greenfield subdivisions in Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, and Surrey to smaller single lot redevelopments or municipal park improvements throughout the Metro Vancouver region. Matthew’s role has varied on these sites and has typically been technical lead and often project manager for terrestrial impact assessments, riparian restoration plans, nature trail plans, tree inventories, tree management plans and windfirm boundary assessments.

Jennifer joined Forte in April 2021 and has become a valuable member of the Forte team. She brings a positive attitude, teamwork skills and a lifetime of field experience to her project work and is already a favorite among clients and construction staff.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary, and a Diploma (Honors) in Forest and Natural Area Management from BCIT, where she was also the recipient of multiple scholarships and awards (6), including the Coastal Silviculture Committee Student Award, and Canadian Institute of Forestry Gold Medal.

A former competitive Ultimate player, Jennifer represented Team Canada at various international competitions over a period of two decades.
