Morningstar Homes Ltd has been a single-family home developer in the lower mainland for over 20 years, working with a number of different consultants, including several arborists and foresters. Matthew Tutsch has worked with Morningstar on many projects, including the Partington, Wynnbrook, Roslyn Ridge, Bridle Ridge, and Cedar Crest developments within Maple Ridge. Matthew provides excellent information and materials to supplement our development and permit applications for the City . His knowledge and expertise on forestry, species management, windfirm assessments, restoration plans, and wildfire mitigation comes through very clearly in site meetings and reporting, which in turn helps us communicate well with the City. With several of our key development sites, I required an experienced forester that had knowledge and expertise in windfirm assessment, especially as it related to the development planning process. Matthew brought a very comprehensive and detailed approach to urban forestry that assisted in meeting our land development objectives. Matthew quickly became a trusted member of our project team and is top of mind when preparing and planning for new land development projects.
I met Matt professionally in 2011 on the Burke Mountain project. Matt has been a key member of the Burke Mountain consulting team until he left his last employer at the end of last year. His knowledge on erosion and sediment control helped the team stay on the good side of the bylaw officers. Since Matt and I met, he has continued to expand his skill set by expanding his practice as a Registered Professional Forester. I remember numerous occasions where we would run into unforeseen problems, only to have him research the problems and come back with new knowledge in the next conversation. Matt’s thirst for knowledge was inspiring. His becoming a business owner is one more proof that he is constantly reinventing himself. I have no doubt he will succeed in this new chapter.
We called Matt when we encountered knotweed on one of our development sites. It's clear that Matt has a lot of experience working with knotweed and he has saved us a lot of money by recommending an innovative disposal solution. I look forward to working with Matt on future projects.

I have been working with Matt for the last 8 years or so. Once he sees the scope of work, he comes up with a cost effective way of solving the issues . A simple phone call, and he takes care of the rest. Works well with my staff and contractors. Always my first call when I see water.
